In a single one-off puzzle, our personality as it affects solving (quick or slow; cautious or carefree; logical or creative...) can have an influence on the outcome.
In The Runes, the scale and time span involved can make these factors much more important.
Have you seen examples where, apart from technical solving skills, your own strengths (or, dare I say it, weaknesses) have made a difference to your progress on the puzzle?

I'm annoyingly logical and methodical, which can lead me to get stuck where a bit of creativity is needed, and also stops me from looking too far ahead (need to finish nearly all of a page before I'll look at the next), so I suspect it'll be a while before I get any of those letters after my level....

I'm working along the lines of do what I can on each page then go back and see what I can fill in. I have 13 of the letters so far and the answers to page 1 except still do not know the connection with Chaucer.

Join the club. Chaucer, He alludes me. I've been looking at some of his works and they are incredibly hard to read. But, I did see a connection in one of the later pages.

Can I have my children as a weakness?? Also my inability to believe in myself. Then there is that tangent I jump off at regular intervals I could go on forever. Strenghts are pig headedness and the determination to crack this. Like my family tree (and that's been going for twenty one years) I need to find that elusive ancestor or in this case blue symbol P12.

I just put all my weaknesses down to being old - it never fails and everyone believes me

I'm a "reflector". There have been a number of puzzles which have made no sense at all at the time of first attempting them. P14 Series is a very good example. Eventually they just seem to lodge in my memory and then, at random, they pop back up and the method presents its self. How long this approach can continue is another matter. From what Scurra has said I feel my days might be numbered.
I live in hope.
BB.

Don't worry about it, BassBloke.
Just keep telling yourself that it's not a race. Get to the end at your own speed. If that means taking a week on a page, then so be it.
It's not as though a new set of Runes are going to arrive in a week or so...

I'm far too impatient and want to rush ahead, However I'll get there if it kills me so perseverence is a plus. The odd bit of inspiration is also a plus but sadly I can't produce it to order

My big weakness is CHESS! I dont understand chess at all. So I leave it to the last and then ask someone else to work it out.
Plato's links are my favourite - they're easy - SO FAR!!!!

How did you get past the one on page 21? I'm a jumper when it comes to puzzles. I get stuck, and move on to the next page and the next puzzle I think I can do. Then go back and try the hard ones again. page 21 put an end to plato for me!
