Hi everyone,

I have had The Runes for a week now and I am totally overwhelmed by it! At first I didnt know where to start, but I have now pulled my finger out and got stuck in.

I tend to just to 10 - 15 mins a day and I get quiete far with a few easy puzzles. I am still only on page 1-3 and having lots of fun with it. It has been addictive and I havnt had any jobs to do today at work and I find myself taking it out and glancing at it every so often!!

Kathlyn,

I have some notes on how the this Tower of Babel puzzle works. There is also a write-up on a more complicated puzzle, together with a step by step solution.

If you would like to look at these, please send me a message and I will send you the link.

Oracle, I have read through a few of the threads on the forum and noticed the quote above. Please could I have the link to the notes as well.

Please could somebody tell me what the 'submitting answers to the gatekeeper' is about????

Thanks

You use the PM (private message) system to contact the Gatekeeper.
The quickest way to do it is to click on the entry "Memberlist" at the top of the page, find the Gatekeeper's entry (it's #6 on the list) and click the PM button next to it.
Then you send the top and bottom keywords as you find them. Generally you will do this a page at a time as you progress through the puzzle, but that's not necessary if you happen to do several pages in a rush (!!!) - you can send several sets of keywords at once.
So you should wait until you have the keywords for the first three pages, and then send them in a PM in one go.

Hello Dundee IV and welcome! As well as Scurra's helpful advice, I suggest you read the Gatekeeper's post under Communities/Introductions.

Thanks guys, will get on with it right away.......

Does anyone know what the meaning of the coloured boxes are in those key word boxes?

I can see myself becoming an expert at this...... that is knowing more and more about less and less!

I haven't got the faintest idea.
Of course, I could be lying :D

Don't worry about things you don't understand right now - everything will make (some sort of) sense when you get to the end... You just may be surprised about how far away the end actually is!

p.s. don't forget to come and introduce your self in the Introductions forum in the Community section. Then we can allocate you your padded cell

Welcome, Dundee IV.......
yes, you will find that there is much more to all this than meets the eye! Well, it does all meet the eye in the long run (this being such a visual puzzle), but there are puzzles within puzzles that will only be revealed much later on - that is why it is such a wonderful pastime and will keep you hooked for months :)
For now, just concentrate on the specific puzzles that clearly lead to the letters you need for the key words and enjoy the challenge.
