Welcome
Welcome to THE RUNES Forum.

THE RUNES is a mysterious puzzle, containing 300 interlinked puzzles which gradually reveal an ancient mystery and give you the chance to solve it. The origin of the puzzle is a mystery in itself, but details of what is known and other information (including how to get your copy) can be found on THE RUNES website by clicking the red link at the top of this page.

The Forum provides a free service to solvers of the puzzle by enabling them to check some of their solutions, record and compare their progress, give and receive hints and discuss all aspects of the puzzle.

Some solvers have asked for the Forum to channel help on the puzzle trails in the same way as on the puzzle pages.

Requests for information include:

- The definite start point for each trail

- A definite finish for each trail

- A good enough clue that eliminates most if not all of the pages that aren't in use for the puzzle being solved.

I expect that some existing and future members would feel that this would diminish the puzzle for them, so I am reluctant to publish this information in the forums. But if solvers would like to exchange these details by private message they should feel free to do so. That includes asking me if all else fails. This would enable each solver to get the level of additional help that they want, without imposing it on everyone else.

I will watch here for responses and, given support, I will change the Forum announcements to be consistent with this approach.

That is helpful. Though I would not expect direct spoiler hints even in a PM - that would be too much to ask for from those who have been slaving away over this for so long!

But some little indications: e.g. of how long a trail is likely to be and what sort of thing we are looking for would certainly relieve some of the agony!

That sounds good. It seems a definite way forward. There have certainly been occasions where I have wondered if I am at the end of a trail or, if not, how much further there might be to go so it would be good to know I can ask the question. So thank you, yes please!

Please note that I have now made a number of changes to the Forums to reflect the above.

This includes additional information in my "Start" and "End" postings in the trail forums. As these are edits, they may not flag up as new postings, so you may want to make a point of checking out the ones that interest you.
