A "Knot" is just another word for something that has been tangled up. Think of a way you might apply that to letters...?
Of course, the Gordian Knot was tangled up so inextricably that it had to be cut with a sword. But I don't think you should ever get that desperate. Well, not until the last few pages, anyway!

You are likely to solve your first Gordian Knot backwards.
In other words, you will know the answer it gives (because of its fit with the bottom keyword), but will have to work out how it is that the puzzle produces that answer.
Remember that the Gordian Knot also ocurs on pages 2 and 3, so you can check your ideas on these as well.
