Welcome to THE RUNES Forum.

THE RUNES is a mysterious puzzle, containing 300 interlinked puzzles which gradually reveal an ancient mystery and give you the chance to solve it. The origin of the puzzle is a mystery in itself, but details of what is known and other information (including how to get your copy) can be found on THE RUNES website by clicking the red link at the top of this page.

The Forum provides a free service to solvers of the puzzle by enabling them to check some of their solutions, record and compare their progress, give and receive hints and discuss all aspects of the puzzle.

At first sight The Runes is quite mysterious. Some might say inaccessible.

How to start?

Well, if some puzzles catch your eye and you can solve them, just go right ahead. It's quite a fun way to begin - solving whatever puzzles you fancy and enjoy. The solutions will all come in useful later on.

Eventually, though, you will either run out of these or decide you want to get to grips with the puzzle as a whole.

When that moment comes, turn to page 1 and have a close look, starting with the lower half. A five-lettered word is needed at the very bottom of the page. A clue is underneath it. There are five puzzles above it. Can you draw all this together to discover both the word and how the puzzles work?

Note that the same is happening on page 2, so you can check out your ideas there as well.

you still have time to turn back! Close the cover of the folder. Lock it away in a box somewhere and ignore the banging. Don't think about it. Stay away!

DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER!

Better still, put it in a box, fill it with concrete and throw it into the nearest large body of water with a fast flowing current. The tide might take it away, and it won't be able to RUNE your life.
