Hi Roche
It is great to welcome you - what a brilliant christmas present...... though a mixed blessing, as you will already have gathered!
I also endorse the recommendation to take (colour!) copies of every page and write your answers onto there. It is a particular help to have a spare copy to mark when you are counting round the edges to find key word letters - as you will need to do every time (and for some other puzzles too!!), and especially as the numbers get larger......
And I guess the pencil industry has suddenly shot into profit with all the new ones we have been buying for Runes - not to mention erasers
If you go to the "introductions" forum at the bottom, you will be able to tell us a bit more about yourself, which would be nice. Enjoy!!

Welcome Rolf its a real challenge, thoroughly enjoyable, often frustrating, and when you doubt it can be done...............IT CAN.
Enjoy looking at our totally frustrated posts in this forum and if you want pm us ( me anyway although I'm sure others feel the same).
The others are right, photocopies and pencils are the order of the day, and don't get obsessed by it

Hello to everyone. I also got this puzzle for Christmas from my son. Guess he loves me! I think he plans to help, but we will see how well that works out. I checked out this site, then made my color copies and got out my pencil. I have tackled most of the first three pages, with what may or may not be correct answers. I then looked at page four and went for the aspirin bottle!! I think this will be the best puzzle ever, if I survive it.
I have never posted to a forum before, so I hope I am doing this correctly. It seems that this is a very welcoming group, and I will probably see a lot of you as I begin to pull my hair out!

Welcome citrox we're all here for support. If you get to the end of page 23 before me, perhaps you could give me a nudge in the right direction If you're stuck just yell, someone will tell you whether you've tied yourself in knots.

I would have to second that! An amazing puzzle, a wonderful adventure, a terrible headache! Worth every minute of your time, worth every cent you paid for it!

Welcome Citrox!
Yes, once you get to page four then you really get sucked into what this is all about.
I, too, was drawn into this by my son.... (and those in the know realise who to blame for that!!) and have not regretted it
Keep going, and ask for help when desperate - you won't be given direct or unfair information, but there are lots of hints to nudge you in the right direction.

Thanks all for the encouragement. I think I am getting it! I am going to look at page 4 tonight, and see if I still feel hopeful tomorrow!!! If I had started on page 4, I think I would have given up right away, but I am hooked now.....this is like drugs, you can't stop!!!! I may be going about it all wrong, but it is the journey, not the destination that is important, right? I wonder if I will be saying that miles down the road, or pages down the road.

Hi All!
Mesmerised by the colours, the amount of puzzles and the lack of English on each page were my first impressions!
About three half-lunch hours in now (bit busy in the evenings at the mo!) and I've got the bottom keywords for the first three pages but I can't make heads-or-tails of the top keywords! Funny symbols in red and blue (why are they numbered?) and the odd symbol or two in black too. Not sure what to make of any of the pictures yet either. Any clues?
I'll plough into the solvable puzzles on page four and see what happens...

Just take your time. And read some of the advice that's been posted here already - it will help, even if it seems strange right now!

maybe it's not the symbols that are numbered so much as the numbers that are symbolled

Welcome XoAlto!
Yes, there are some direct clues to the top word - find the obvious word that is in front of your eyes and then work out why! You should be able to find the p2 word in a similar way, and that should confirm the method to be used. From then onwards you will have to work out the numbers as well

First impressions, well, it's a complete mystery! I loved opening it up and looking through the pages for the first time, not understanding anything written on them and thinking both how exciting it was to start something this epic and feeling completely lost as to where that start point was!
After a few minutes of properly examining the first page I could see the answer to the bottom word, and from then on I was hooked!
By the time I got to page 3 I felt like I had the idea of what was basically happening on each page and got stuck into solving the puzzles. I've read in the forums that there are a lot of other puzzles not page-specific, and I can see images on the pages that I haven't used yet for any of the smaller puzzles, so I think the mystery will continue right to the end...
